Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
